When the Victorian extension was added (see home page)   part of the rear of the building was  constructed on  slender  piers.  The specialist surveyors state that these are probably on  inadequate foundations (like the rest of the building) and appear  to be subsiding.

Apparently the whole building, which has a hidden timber frame, rests on shallow foundations.
